Seeking Truth and Pursuing Innovation, Ushering in a New Era of Artificial General Intelligence
As a core technology driving the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, artificial intelligence exerts a profound and far-reaching impact on economic development, social progress, and the international political and economic landscape. In response to national strategic needs and at the forefront of global technological competition, Zhejiang University established the College of Artificial Intelligence in July 2025.
The college oversees the development of two first-level disciplines — Artificial Intelligence and Design — as well as two undergraduate programs — Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Engineering and Creative Design. It currently hosts two national-level platforms: the National Innovation Platform for AI Industry-Education Integration and the National AI Textbook Base. The college plans to establish research directions in areas such as Intelligent Theory and Systems, Intelligent Design, AI Software-Hardware Synergy, Autonomous Intelligent Systems, and Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence.

Milestones of Innovation
- 1978
Professor He Zhijun founded the Department of Computer Science and began recruiting master's students in artificial intelligence.
- 1982
The Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory of Zhejiang University was established.
- 1987
The laboratory was upgraded to the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Zhejiang University.
- 2019
Approved to establish China's first interdisciplinary program in artificial intelligence.
- 2025
The College of Artificial Intelligence, Zhejiang University was officially inaugurated.
